What I dended up doing was actually going to the HP site and downloading the origonal drivers that came with my laptop and reinstalling them - the process prompts you to say that the current drivers are newer than the ones your about to install - I simply accepted that and went through with the installation.
Make sure you first open the HP Support Assistant tool that is with your laptop and copy paste the serial number so that you can paste it into the HP support site search area - so that it will give you the correct drivers that are for your system B I too have an HP Pavilion dv6 and am having this same problem.
